Pregnancy
During pregnancy the body goes through a series of changes in a very short space of time.
Massage can help you to accomodate these changes as well as alleviate some commonly experienced problems. Essential oils can also be used during pregnancy.
It is usual to wait until the pregnancy is established (after the 1st trimester) before receiving a course of treatment, as a precaution. As an additional precaution it is usual to apply oils in an extremely low dilution, normally 1%.
Massage can help with:
• Water retention
• Fatigue
• Morning sickness
• Aches & pains
• Anxiety
Safety
There is a lot of misleading and contradictory information in the various texts on aromatherapy. There are a lot of oils that are described as unsafe for use in pregnancy or not recommended in pregnancy where there is no evidence to back this up. Some contraindications apply to a particular chemo type of an oil. As it is impossible to prove something is safe this remains a tricky issue, therefore I simply won’t use an oil if you are concerned or worried that it could do harm to you or your baby.
